Inorganic Catalysts for Polymers and Oleochemicals

We manufacture compounds based on tin and graphene oxide that have uses as catalysts.

Thermoplastic Vulcanizate Crosslinking

Thermoplastic Vulcanizates (TPV) are high performance polymers that offer the benefits of thermoplastic processing whilst retaining the elasticity of rubber. We offer anhydrous tin chloride as a resol crosslinking co-catalyst in the manufacture of TPVs.

Our anhydrous tin dichloride has been designed to reduce the moisture present in the product, preventing caking in the short term and corrosion to metal surfaces in manufacturing equipment in the long term. We can work in partnership to develop the best product form and packaging solutions for your manufacturing operations.

Esterification

Esterification is a key process in a range of industrial processes, for example in the manufacture of plasticisers, lubricants, cosmetics and surfactants. Tin monoxide and tin dichloride can be used as an effective esterification catalyst as an alternative to traditional organo-tin catalysts.

Esterification is a chemical process that reacts an alcohol and carboxylic acid group to form an ester. The tin (II) in tin monooxide and tin dichloride acts as a Lewis Acid, accepting electrons from the oxygen groups which in turn catalyses the reaction of the alcohol and acid. We offer high purity stannous oxide and stannous chloride products for this industry.

Graphene Oxide

Graphene Oxide has been widely studied both as a sole catalyst and as a catalyst support for heterogenous catalysts and electronically conductive catalysts.

The high surface area and negatively charged oxygen functional groups on graphene oxide sheets are favourable conditions for achieving a high loading of metal catalyst anchoring. Graphene oxide has been researched widely as a catalyst support including for proton exchange membrane fuel cells, hydrocarbon synthesis (e.g. Fischer-Tropsch), Suzuki coupling, hydrogenation and carbon monoxide oxidation.
