We are pleased to announce a the launch of Flamtard X101, a low-cost replacement for antimony trioxide (ATO) as a flame retardant additive in PVC polymer compounds.

William Blythe has pioneered the development and commercialisation of the non-hazardous, flame retardant synergist zinc stannate technology since the 1990’s under the brand name, Flamtard. Many polymer formulators are now looking for alternative flame retardant additives to ATO, and the zinc stannate chemistry is one of the best performing technologies.

Flamtard X101 builds on the success of Flamtard H (zinc hydroxystannate). The product has been engineered for both performance and cost as a replacement for ATO in PVC applications such as wire & cable and PVC leather. The data below demonstrates the comparable self-extinguishing properties Flamtard X101 compared to Flamtard H and ATO in a typical PVC wire & cable formulation. This data was gathered following the industry standard UL94 Vertical Burn test method.

Flamtard X101 has been launched at an ideal time to offer a low-cost, non-hazardous alternative to ATO. This product is now available for sampling and commercial supply. To find out more, please contact us here:
